Yakima Training Center: Senator Murray Announces More than $4 million in Recovery Funding for Military Infrastructure

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) announced that $4,366,250 has been made available in Washington state by the Department of Defense for infrastructure repairs at the Yakima Training Center.  This funding was included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA).

“Investing in our military infrastructure here in Washington state is absolutely critical as we work toward economic recovery,” said Senator Patty Murray. “This funding will provide a boost to our economy while ensuring that our men and women in the Yakima Training Center have safe and modern facilities.”

As a senior member of the Military Construction and Veterans’ Affairs Subcommittee, Senator Murray worked to ensure that investments in our nation’s military bases were included in the Recovery Act.  Senator Murray voted to pass the Recovery Act on February 13th. The bill was signed into law by President Obama on February 17th.
