(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) released the following statement marking the arrival of the USS Nimitz to her new home at Naval Station Everett:
“Today is a day of celebration for the Everett area and the United States Navy. Naval Station Everett was a great home for the USS Abraham Lincoln, and I have no doubt the USS Nimitz’s experience will be no different.
“Everett offers not only the strategic advantages, but an outstanding quality of life that makes it a desirable homeport for all sailors. I was proud to work closely with the Navy to make sure they understood the exponential returns of stationing a new carrier in this community.
“I’d like to officially welcome the USS Nimitz with the same enthusiasm and appreciation that has come to define Everett’s relationship with the Navy and its families.”
