With President Bush today traveling to Illinois to renew his call for medical liability reform, Senator Patty Murray today called on him to support real, bipartisan reforms:
“Today, President Bush continued his misguided effort to curb the right of every injured patient to seek justice by pushing his flawed medical liability reform bill. That there is a problem with the nation’s medical malpractice insurance market is undeniable, but giving those who have caused harm a ‘Get Out of Jail Free’ card is not the answer. Instead of pandering to insurance companies and large pharmaceutical companies, the President should work with us to find a real, bi-partisan solution that helps control the cost of malpractice insurance for doctors without undermining patient safety and protections.”
