“This weekend, thousands of concerned supporters will gather in our nation’s Capitol to rally in favor of a woman’s right to choose. Not since the Supreme Court’s 1973 ruling on Roe v. Wade has the right to reproductive freedom been under such direct attack, and the threat has never been greater.
The President has made it clear that anti-choice forces have a friend in the White House. And the majority in Congress has taken steps towards eroding reproductive freedom for women in the U.S. and overseas.
Freedom of choice is essential to the protection of women’s health. Access to a broad range of reproductive options, from family planning to prenatal care, are fundamental to protecting and saving women’s lives. Attempts to restrict these choices – particularly the right to choose – will have devastating consequences.
I will continue to fight attempts to roll back a woman’s right to choose and to deny women access to safe and legal reproductive health services. I will also continue to work to reduce the number of unintended pregnancies by expanding access to safe and affordable family planning alternatives.
This weekend’s March for Choice should put the Administration on notice. Americans will not permit the unraveling of three decades of progress for reproductive choice and women’s health.”
