Washington, D.C. — Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) and U.S. Senator Susan Collins (R-ME), Chair and Vice Chair of the Senate Appropriations Committee respectively, issued the below statement following a classified Senate Appropriations Committee briefing on U.S. Assistance to Ukrainian Air Defenses.
“This morning, we received an update on Ukrainian Air Defenses and the role of U.S. assistance—and it is clear as day that continued American military and economic support for Ukraine is indispensable, and critical to our own national security. Putin has made clear that his goal is to re-create the former Soviet Union. If his aggression is not stopped in Ukraine, he will go on to threaten other countries including our NATO allies like Poland and the Baltic states. Here in the Senate, we are going to be working in a bipartisan way to continue delivering the support our Ukrainian allies are counting on.”
