As so many Washington families know, this agreement is more than a business deal; it’s a guarantee that thousands of good-paying jobs and billions of dollars in economic growth will continue to strengthen our aerospace industry and our economy for years to come. I know well this decision wasn’t easy for any of the Machinists or their families, and I know that many of those men and women decided Boeing’s latest offer was still unacceptable. Their concerns about income and retirement security for current and future generations of aerospace workers – and all American workers – are legitimate. The urgency of investing in our people and expanding the middle class needs to continue to be our country’s top economic and fiscal priority.”
