(Washington D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray released the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm Penny Pritzker as Commerce Secretary by a vote of 97-1.
“With more than two decades of management experience in a wide array of important industries, Ms. Pritzker understands the needs of the business community, and she’s well-prepared to serve our country as Secretary of Commerce.
“As she assumes oversight over programs crucial to restoring ESA listed salmon runs, I will work closely with Ms. Pritzker to ensure that the Department of Commerce is a strong partner for Washington state and is focused on our unique needs, including adequate funding for the Pacific Coastal Salmon Recovery Fund and other activities that impact the environmental and economic well-being of our communities.
“And as a Senator from the most trade-dependent state in the nation, I will work closely with Ms. Pritzker to engage international leaders to bring American goods to markets around the world.”
