(Washington, D.C.) – Today U.S. Senator Patty Murray released the following statement after the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) announced that it would be moving its Marine Operations Center – Pacific out of Washington state.
“I am deeply disappointed by NOAA’s decision to move its Marine Operations Center out of Washington state. This is the wrong decision for taxpayers, NOAA’s mission and its employees. For over a century, the Puget Sound region has provided a home that has helped NOAA’s Pacific operations thrive. Today, the Puget Sound provides the same distinct advantages it always has. I plan to work with Senator Cantwell, who oversees NOAA in the Senate, to ensure that this decision is properly scrutinized.”
