(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray
(D-WA) met with Mission Specialist Dottie Metcalf-Lindenburger of Space Shuttle
Crew Mission STS-131 Discovery. Metcalf-Lindenburger is from Vancouver,
Washington.
Metcalf-Lindenburger is a former earth science and
astronomy teacher at Hudson’s Bay High School in Vancouver, and was selected by
NASA as a mission specialist in May 2004. She has logged 362 hours in space,
most recently as a mission specialist on Mission STS-131 Discovery; a resupply
mission to the International Space Station.
The Mission STS-131 Discovery launched on April 5th,
2010 from the Kennedy Space Center and returned to Earth on April 20th,
2010. Upon arrival at the station, more than 27,000 pounds of hardware,
supplies, and equipment were dropped off by Discovery’s crew. These included a
tank full of ammonia, a coolant that required three spacewalks to hook up, new
crew sleeping quarters, and three experiment racks.
