Senator Murray Commends Obama Administration’s Effort to Assist Military Families

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray
(D-WA) praised commitments announced by the Obama Administration to improve the
quality of life of military families. Murray, a senior member of the Senate
Veterans’ Affairs Committee and a member of the Defense Appropriations
Subcommittee, represents a state with a large and continually growing military
population. She has long championed efforts to support military families
including tuition and job training assistance, educational support for military
children, and improved access to health care.

“We should leave no stone unturned when it comes to
easing the burdens that come with the sacrifices military families make.
Especially now, we need to provide worker training, education, health care, and
job support. We need to let our service members know we are taking care of
their loved ones while they are taking care of all of ours.

“In concert with the commitments the Obama
Administration has made, I will continue to work to ensure Congress is taking
steps to improve the quality of life of our military families. This must be an
ongoing and vigorous effort if we are going to truly strengthen our commitment
to military families.”
