Senator Murray Announces $2 Million for Bellingham, Snohomish County Mass-Transit

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) announced that $2,080,804 has been released in grants by the U.S. Department of Transportation for mass-transit projects in Washington state. The grants were funded through the Federal Transit Administration and will be put to use improving transportation and creating jobs in Washington state.

“I am excited to announce these mass-transit grants that will help commuters and allow communities to create jobs and boost the economy,” said Senator Patty Murray.  “These grants will put people to work today, help our commuters, and keep businesses moving to sustain economic growth in the future.”

Senator Murray chairs the Transportation and Housing Appropriations Subcommittee overseeing funding for the Department of Transportation.

Washington state funding total: $2,080,804

Snohomish County

Snohomish County Public Transportation Benefit Area Corp. (Community Transit)

$425,000 for renovations and improvements for the Mountlake Terrace Transit Center parking lot.

Bellingham

Whatcom Transportation Authority

$1,655,804 to purchase five (5) 35-foot low-floor replacement coaches.
