(Washington, D.C.)- U.S. Senator Patty Murray announced $2.7 million in U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Transit System grants for Washington state. These grants, which Murray advocated for as a member of the Senate Appropriations Homeland Security Subcommittee, will help protect regional transit systems and the state’s many commuters.
“After the tragic events in London, we were reminded as a nation about the need for tighter security for our transit systems,” Murray said. “I am pleased to have secured these funds, so our state has the resources to protect our rails and ferries against terrorist threats.”
