(Washington D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray and U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell introduced a resolution in the Senate commemorating the lives of Officer Kristine Marie Fairbanks, Deputy Anne Marie Jackson, and Sergeant Nelson Kai Ng, who gave their lives in the service of the people of Washington state in 2008.
“These remarkable men and women represent the absolute best of Washington state,” said Senator Patty Murray. “Their selflessness and dedication to their communities serve as an inspiration to all of us. I extend my condolences to the families and loved ones of Officer Kristine Marie Fairbanks, Deputy Anne Marie Jackson, and Sergeant Nelson Kai Ng, and join them in celebrating the lives and mourning the loss of these brave men and women.”
“Whether acting heroically in the face of danger; admirably in response to Washington state citizens in crisis; or responsibly in situations that challenge their very lives, Washington state’s brave men and women in uniform deserve our thanks and recognition,” said Senator Maria Cantwell. “They are a testament to just how great Washington and this nation are. My thoughts, prayers, and sincere condolences are with the family and loved ones of Officer Kristine Marie Fairbanks, Deputy Anne Marie Jackson, and Sergeant Nelson Kai Ng. I am grateful for their bravery and service.”
The resolution was introduced to coincide with National Police Week, which is being observed from May 10 to May 16, 2009. Officer Kristine Marie Fairbanks, Deputy Anne Marie Jackson, and Sergeant Nelson Kai Ng were among the 133 law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty across the United States in 2008.
