An important step is the GreenLane Maritime Cargo Security Act, co-sponsored by Sen. Patty Murray, D-Wash., and Sen. Susan Collins, R-Maine. It would provide incentives to shippers who voluntarily meet the highest levels of security and container screening. Their cargo would get preferential treatment and move faster through the system.
