On the 38th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, Murray Calls for Continued Focus on Women’s Access to Health Care

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray
(D-WA) released the following statement on the 38th anniversary of
the historic Supreme Court decision to constitutionally guarantee access to
safe and legal reproductive choice in the United States.

“As
we mark the 38th anniversary of the landmark Supreme Court decision
in Roe v. Wade we must remember that reproductive choice is still at risk in
this country, and we must do all we can to protect it.

“Today
is not only a day for reflection, but also a day to look forward to work still
to be done. The anniversary of this decision reminds us that we can never back
down from this fight. Ensuring women have access to quality care and choices
requires not only protecting the progress we’ve made, but also continuing to
move forward.”
