(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) released the following statement after the announcement the University of Washington School of Medicine (UW) and Washington State University (WSU) have announced their intention to collaborate on a pilot program to expand the amount of training University of Washington medical students can complete at the WSU Riverpoint campus in Spokane as part of the WWAMI Spokane program:
“WWAMI is a win-win for everyone involved. The program is high-quality, cost-effective, and collaborative — all in the name of serving our state and region. I was proud to partner with many of those in the community to direct federal funding towards making the Riverpoint campus a reality. I am grateful these investments have led to economic growth and ongoing efforts to expand the campus to be a key part of the WWAMI system. And after years of working with UW, WSU, local hospitals and others in the community, it is so wonderful to have WSU and the UW School of Medicine joined together to plan a second year program of the medical program.”
