(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Today the World Trade Organization took up the United States’ case against the European Union and its unfair subsidies to Airbus. U.S. Senator Patty Murray, the Senate’s leading voice on ending Airbus’ market-distorting trade practices, released the following statement:
“Today’s action by the WTO is another big step in the effort to hold Airbus and its job killing, trade distorting subsidy practices accountable. Due to Europe’s insincere attempts to resolve the Airbus issues, the United States will now aggressively combat launch aid subsidies before the WTO.
“I applaud the Administration’s efforts to stand up for America’s aerospace workers. I will continue to monitor the proceedings and to fight with Ambassador Portman, President Bush and anyone else willing to stand against Europe’s attempts to buy global domination in commercial aerospace.”
