(WASHINGTON,
D.C.) – Following the successful reelection of U.S. Senator Patty Murray, Chief
of Staff Jeff Bjornstad today announced he will be leaving the Senator’s office
to pursue new opportunities.
“Jeff’s
service to my Senate office and to the state of Washington over the past four
years has been invaluable. His energy and passion have helped ensure that
Washington state comes first every single day in my office and that serving our
constituents is priority number one,” Senator Murray said. “While I
am sad to see him leave, Jeff will continue to be a valued advisor and someone
I will turn to regularly as we continue our work to create jobs and move
Washington state forward.”
Mike
Spahn, a long-time aide will take over as Murray’s new Chief of Staff.
Evan Schatz, currently Murray’s Legislative Director, will become her Deputy

Larsen and Adam Smith prior to his work with Murray.
“It
has been an honor and privilege working for Senator Murray and serving the
great people of Washington state. Senator Murray’s vision and tenacity on
behalf of our state and her down-to-earth, get-it-done attitude has been felt
in communities from Walla Walla to Bellingham and everywhere in between.
She wakes up every day asking how she can help solve problems across our state
and has been an effective advocate for job creation, our veterans and the needs
of our communities,” Bjornstad
said.
