Murray Announces Staff Change at Veterans’ Affairs Committee

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray,
Chairman of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, announced the retirement of
Veterans’ Affairs Committee Staff Director Bill Brew.

“Bill has been a critical part of advancing so much important
legislation, creating new programs and services, providing oversight, and most
importantly, being an extraordinarily knowledgeable advocate for what is best
for our veterans,”
Murray said. “He served his country in Vietnam
and for so long afterward by ensuring his fellow veterans got the attention
they deserved from the federal government. We will all miss him, but we wish
him the very best as he embarks on a much, much deserved retirement.”

Kim Lipsky, currently the Committee’s Deputy Staff Director
will take over as Staff Director. Ms. Lipsky has worked for the Committee on
Veterans’ Affairs for more than 13 years. Among her many accomplishments, Ms
Lipsky was instrumental during the last Congress in the successful efforts to
pass legislation to provide advanced funding for the VA health care system, and
in helping to provide new benefits to caregivers of wounded warriors.

“I’m very excited to have Kim leading a great staff
that is committed to aggressively addressing the big problems our veterans
face,”
Murray said. “Her experience and knowledge will be crucial
as we work to hold the VA accountable, prepare for an influx of new veterans,
and safeguard the care and services our current veterans have earned.”
