Murray Announces Over $319 Million for Military Construction Projects in Washington State

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) today announced over $319 million in construction projects for Washington state military installations in the House-Senate conference report on the fiscal year 2006 Military Construction and VA Appropriations bill.

As a key member of the Senate Military Construction and VA Subcommittee, Murray worked to include critical funding for projects ranging from a new resistance training facility at Fairchild Air Force Base to housing facilities at Fort Lewis. The conference report will now go to the president to be signed into law.

“Washington state’s military bases are a critical part of our national defense, and it’s important that the bases have top-notch facilities,” Murray said. “The funding I have secured will help greatly in our ongoing efforts to modernize and upgrade the facilities in which our men and women in uniform and their families live, work and train. This conference report sends the message that we appreciate their sacrifices.”
