Murray Announces $530,000 for Washington State Firefighters

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) today announced $532,895 for Washington state firefighters to enhance their abilities to respond to fire and fire-related hazards in their communities.

In the seventh round of the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program, the funds will support fire operations, firefighter safety programs, fire prevention programs, emergency medical services and firefighting vehicles.

As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator Murray has supported full funding for the Assistance for Firefighters Program.

“Increased funding for these fire departments will improve our first responders’ ability to continue saving lives and protecting our communities,” Senator Murray said. “I am pleased to announce these much needed funds to Washington’s firefighters. We must continue to upgrade their tools and programs so they can do their jobs effectively and safely.”

The following Washington State fire departments will receive federal funding:

Whatcom County Fire District #4 $27,824

San Juan County Fire Protection District #2 $18,711

City of Stevenson Volunteer Fire Department $42,863

Clark County Fire District #3 $118,125

Klickitat County Rural 7 FPD $165,479

City of Zillah Fire Department $89,333

Pend Oreille County Fire District #8 $13,860

Aberdeen Fire Department $56,700

The Assistance for Firefighters Grant program is distributed by the Department of Homeland Security and administered by the U.S. Fire Administration (USFA), a division of the Emergency Preparedness and Response Directorate.
