(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Senator Patty Murray today announced that the U.S. Department of Transportation will soon release $2.5 million in Federal Transit Administration (FTA) funds for the Central Puget Sound Regional Transit Authority.
The federal grant money, which Murray secured in the fiscal year 2003 Transportation Appropriation bill, will support construction of the Lakewood Transit Center and expansion of the SR-12 park-and-ride lot.
“I am proud to have secured this important funding to help address our transportation challenges and improve the quality of life in the Central Puget Sound,” Sen. Murray said. “Investing in transportation infrastructure today, paves the way for jobs and growth in the future.”
The FTA, which administers the grant, is expected to formally release the funds on Friday, September 12th.
