(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash) today announced a U.S. Department of Transportation grant of $1.8 million dollars to make improvements to the runway safety area at the Pullman/Moscow Regional Airport. Senator Murray helped secure the money as the highest-ranking Democrat on the Senate Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee.
“I’m proud to have helped get this funding for Pullman/Moscow Regional Airport,” Murray said. “These funds will allow the airport to accommodate larger aircraft, providing economic benefits to the region, and will enhance the safety area that surrounds the airport’s runways. Southeast Washington residents and visitors will benefit from the additional level of safety and capacity that these improvements provide.”
The funding will help improve runway safety areas between B-II and C-III of the airport, and will reduce the hazard of structural damage for aircraft that deviate from runway surfaces.
