(WASHINGTON, D.C.)– Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray applauded an announcement from Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Sylvia Mathews Burwell awarding $1.9 million in Affordable Care Act funding to establish or expand behavioral health services for 20,740 Washington state residents. The health centers will use these new funds for efforts such as hiring new mental health professionals, adding mental and substance use disorder health services at the centers, and employing integrated models of primary care to better deliver overall patient care.
“Access to mental health care is as critical to overall health as access to physical health care,” Senator Murray said. “This funding will help expand Washington’s mental health network to offer better care to families across our state.”
