Appropriations Requests

Senator Murray is currently accepting appropriations requests for congressional directed spending for Fiscal Year 2026 (FY26). The application will remain open until 5:00 pm PDT on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. Applications submitted after the deadline will be considered on a rolling basis.

Congressional directed spending allows senators to set aside federal funds for specific projects in their states. This is an opportunity for eligible entities to apply to obtain funding for projects that would benefit from a one-time allocation of funds. There is no guarantee that the Senate Appropriations Committee will grant CDS requests in any given year. Similarly, accounts and eligibility requirements can change from one appropriations cycle to another, and the Senate Appropriations Committee has not yet published guidance for FY26. Requestors may be required to submit additional information to the Senator’s office at a later time.

Senator Murray is now accepting programmatic appropriations requests for Fiscal Year 2026. The application will remain open until 11:59 PM PT on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Applications submitted after the deadline will be considered on a rolling basis.

Programmatic appropriations allows senators to advocate for specific funding levels for existing federal programs that benefit their states. This process allows eligible entities to request adjustments to the funding of authorized programs, ensuring they receive appropriate resources during the annual appropriations cycle. Further requests can be made for report language related to programs or offices. While senators can submit programmatic funding requests, there is no guarantee that the Senate Appropriations Committee will approve them in any given year. Additionally, funding levels and eligibility criteria may change from one appropriations cycle to another, and the Committee has not yet released guidance for FY26. Programmatic funding cannot be used to fund specific projects.
