LINCOLN COUNTY: Senator Murray Announces Federal Help for Emergency Operations Center

(Washington D.C.)– Today, U.S.
Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) announced that $1 million will be allocated to
support the construction of a new Emergency Operations Center in Sprague,
Washington as part of the fiscal year 2010 Homeland Security Appropriations
bill.

The new center will replace an
existing building that is suffering from structural damage to the roof and
cracks along the walls. Lincoln County Fire District #1 responds to emergency
calls from travelers along the I-90 corridor, for which it receives no
revenues.  This funding will provide the initial support to replace the
current building.

“First
responders in Lincoln County need a new Emergency Operations Center to keep
doing their jobs well and the area safe,”
said Senator
Patty Murray.
“Moving forward with this critical project will
mean more prepared and efficient responses to emergencies in the region.”

Senator Murray is a senior member of the Senate Homeland
Security Appropriations Subcommittee.
