(Washington, D.C.) –
Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), a senior
member of the Senate Budget Committee, released the following statement on the
confirmation of Jacob Lew as Director of the Office of Management and Budget
last night. Murray
met with Lew in August of this year. Murray also questioned
him about Hanford in a hearing in September.
“Jack Lew is the right man
for the OMB and I am very glad that the Senate confirmed him last night. He
understands that tackling the debt and deficit is absolutely critical for our
nation’s future, and he has the skills and experience to take on that challenge
in a responsible way.
“When
I met with Jack earlier this year I also talked to him about the federal
government’s legal and moral obligation to clean up Hanford. I look forward to
working with him on this issue, and I will be watching closely to make sure
Hanford and the Tri-Cities community get the resources they need this year and
for years to come.”
