SUPREME COURT: Senator Murray Meets with Supreme Court Justice Nominee Sonia Sotomayor

(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), a member of the Senate leadership, met with U.S. Appeals Court Judge Sonia Sotomayor to discuss her nomination to the Supreme Court.

“Watching Supreme Court confirmation hearings many years ago inspired me to challenge the status quo and run for the Senate,” Senator Murray said before the meeting. “I have no doubt that just by being nominated Judge Sotomayor will serve as an inspiration to another generation of Americans. She is truly the embodiment of the American Dream.

“I’m excited that she is here and I’m looking forward to considering her nomination.”
