(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Senate Republican Leadership today blocked an effort to block the Alternative Minimum Tax and extend a number of tax relief measures to help middle class Americans, including Sales Tax Deductibility for Washington state residents.
Senator Patty Murray released the following statement:
"The Grinch came early this year for families across Washington state. Not only did the Republican minority block an AMT patch to provide tax relief to nearly 20 million Americans, but they blocked a 2 year extension of sales tax deduction for Washington state residents.
"Sales tax deductibility is the first step towards tax fairness for Washington state taxpayers, yet the Republicans said no. It is disappointing that with the holidays around the corner Republicans refuse to get in the spirit and continue to block reasonable tax relief for struggling Americans."
