(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Senator Patty Murray tonight released the following statement on the announcement of a deal averting Republican use of the nuclear option:
“Tonight’s announcement of a deal putting an end to the nuclear option is a great victory for the rights of minorities everywhere, for the U.S. Senate and our entire country. Our Founding Fathers’ vision for a democracy that respects all voices in this country is safe.
“I hope now, with the help of the brave Republicans who said no to this radical rule change, we can get back to the business of the American people.
“In Washington state, we have always worked across the aisle to find qualified, independent judges for the federal bench. I look forward to working with my colleagues and our commission to continue that process in the near future.”
