(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-Wash.) today announced a $1.5 million grant for runway improvement projects at Sea-Tac Airport.
As the top Democrat on the Senate Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, Murray helped to secure the Department of Transportation grant which will help rehabilitate runway 16/34 L at Sea-Tac.
“Maintaining the function and safety of our runways is a top priority for our region,” Murray said. “Thanks to this grant, SeaTac can make the improvements it needs to run safely, at full capacity and expand as an important airport facility.”
Through her key role on the Senate Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee, Murray has jurisdiction over funding for the Federal Aviation Administration. She has consistently secured critical federal funding for construction and security improvements at Sea-Tac, including the ongoing Third Runway Project.
