Murray Announces Over $319 Million for Military Construction Projects in Washington State

WASHINGTON, D.C.) – U.S. Senator Patty Murray today announced over $319 million in construction projects for Washington state military installations in the Fiscal Year 2006 Military Construction and VA Appropriations bill. As a key member of this subcommittee, Murray worked to include critical funding for projects ranging from a new resistance training facility at Fairchild Air Force Base to housing facilities at Fort Lewis.

“These projects will modernize and upgrade the facilities in which our men and women in uniform and their families live, work and train,” Senator Murray said. “Washington state’s military bases are strategically important to our nation’s defense and our ability to project force worldwide. I am pleased to have secured funding to improve these facilities for the training of our military personnel and the quality of life of those who sacrifice so much for all of us.”

  • Resistance Training Facility: $8.2 million

ARMY – FORT LEWIS


  • Barracks Complex construction: $50 million

  • North Fort Lewis Barracks Construction: $49.949 million

  • Special Ops Forces Battalion Complex: $30 million

  • Special Ops Forces: Expansion of compound: $18.5 million

  • Special Ops Forces Training Facility: $4.8 million

NAVY – SUB BASE BANGOR


  • Enclosure of Motor Transfer Facility: $2.86 million

  • Production & Staging complex: $47.095 million

  • Mission Support Facility for SSBN/SSN: $15.78 million

  • Waterfront Security Enclave: $41.52 million

NAVY – NAVAL STATION EVERETT


  • Increment #1 Bachelor Enlisted Quarters: $49.95 million

  • Fleet Region Readiness Center Design: $600,000

The funding passed the Senate Military Construction – VA Appropriations Subcommittee today and will now go to the full Senate Appropriations Committee for approval.
