“There is no doubt that America’s Armed Forces need new air refueling tankers. Our troops have already waited for more than two years while the Tanker deal was scrutinized by Congress, government agencies, the Pentagon, and outside interest groups. While the latest reviews are appropriate and will increase confidence in the tanker deal, we must be sensitive about the impact of delays.
Today, with the layoff of up to 50 Boeing workers in Puget Sound, we saw another painful example of the real price these delays are having on our troops, our workers, and our economy. It’s time to complete the reviews and get these tankers into the hands of our service men and women.”
