Washington, D.C—Today, U.S Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Chairman of the Senate Budget Committee, released the following statement after the Senate voted to confirm Jack Lew as Secretary of the Treasury by a vote of 71-26.
“Jack understands what it takes to tackle our economic and fiscal challenges in a balanced and bipartisan way and I am very glad that the Senate voted today to confirm him with strong bipartisan support so he can get to work.
“I’ve worked with Jack over the years and had the opportunity to meet with him recently to discuss his goals and vision for the Treasury Department. I am confident that his expertise and experience in both the private and public sector will allow him to continue being a strong and effective advocate for middle class families, responsible deficit reduction, and broad-based economic growth.”
