Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) announced that an Economic Development Administration (EDA) grant for $845,000 has been awarded by the Department of Commerce to Lower Columbia College. The grant will be used to purchase workforce training equipment for LCC’s Health and Science building in Longview. This investment strengthens health science, applied science, engineering and bio-engineering workforce training capabilities and supports the region’s economic diversification and job creation goals.
“It is so critical that we help residents in the region gain the skills they need for competitive jobs,” Senator Murray said. “This funding will help put people to work in Longview, and it will lay down a strong foundation for long-term economic growth.”
As a senior member of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, Senator Murray has consistently fought for increased access to training and resources through federal and local programs that help workers acquire skills that are in demand and expand opportunities for works to take family-wage jobs.
