(Washington, D.C.)—Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), a senior member of the Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, applauded the U.S. Department of Transportation’s announcement that the Walla Walla Regional Airport will receive a $1 million federal grant to install perimeter fencing and begin work to rehabilitate the taxiway.
“These investments are great news for Washington state families, small business owners, and communities who depend on safe, reliable airports to connect our cities,” said Senator Patty Murray. “As air traffic continues to increase, it is critical that we continue to invest in infrastructure in Washington state and across the nation.”
The Walla Walla Regional Airport experienced a record number of travelers coming through the airport in May 2015. The grant was announced on Tuesday.
