(Washington, D.C.)—Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), a senior member of the Senate Transportation, Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Subcommittee, applauded the U.S. Department of Transportation’s announcement that the Pangborn Memorial Airport in East Wenatchee will receive a $5.8 million federal grant to extend Runway 12.
“These investments are great news for Washington state families, small business owners, and communities who depend on safe, reliable airports to connect our cities,” said Senator Patty Murray. “This runway extension project is so important to improving the airport’s ability to accommodate critical air traffic coming in and out of Wenatchee and support the regional economy.”
The project would extend Runway 12 by 1,300 feet to a total length of 7,000 feet, allowing the airport to better serve current and future aircraft. The grant was announced on Wednesday.
