(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) released the following statement on the decision by the U.S. Department of Education to deny Central Kitsap School District’s request for Impact Aid, the critical federal funding to support students from military families and tribal communities.
“I am extremely disappointed with today’s announcement and I plan to do everything I can to make sure that Central Kitsap School District is treated fairly and gets the resources it needs to support students from military families,” said Senator Murray. “I’ve heard from parents, teachers, and administrators in Central Kitsap School District about just how important the Impact Aid program is to their community, which is why the bill I am working on to fix the broken federal education law would address this issue and provide the district with some much-needed support.”
