(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), Ranking Member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee praised the House of Representatives for passing the Every Student Succeeds Act, the bipartisan legislation she worked on to fix No Child Left Behind. The legislation passed with overwhelming, bipartisan support and now moves to the Senate for approval.
“Today marks another positive step to finally fixing the badly broken No Child Left Behind law for students, parents, teachers, and communities in Washington state and across the country. I applaud the House for voting overwhelmingly in favor of our bipartisan bill to reduce reliance on high-stakes testing, invest in improving and expanding access to preschool programs, ensure all students have access to a quality education, and so much more. I look forward to finishing our bipartisan work and sending the bill to President Obama’s desk for his signature so that our legislation can get to work for my home state and our nation.”
