(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Today the Supreme Court upheld the principle that affirmative action is constitutional and may be used as a factor in college admissions.
Sen. Murray released the following statement:
“Today the Supreme Court upheld the American values of fairness and equality by reaffirming the principle that affirmative action can be used in college admissions to promote equality of opportunity. Because of this decision, America can continue to be the land of opportunity for all.
America has made significant progress in promoting equality of opportunity – for minorities, for women, for the disadvantaged. Affirmative action has been an integral part of that progress. Today’s ruling continues our nation on the path to progress.”
