(Washington, D.C.) – Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) issued the following statement in response to the withdrawal of Assistant U.S. District Attorney Ryan Bounds’ nomination to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
“We just proved that the Senate can actually block extreme nominees who would roll back the rights and freedoms that so many of us hold dear—and now we need to keep this momentum going in the fight against Judge Kavanaugh and President Trump’s attempt to overturn Roe v. Wade, criminalize abortion in America, and eliminate protections for patients with pre-existing conditions. This is great news for anyone who cares about women’s health, civil rights, and the rights and freedoms of all people, families, and communities across the country.”
