volunteering at the Seattle veterans hospital during the Vietnam War
that I would do everything I could to help those individuals who sacrificed
for our country. Now that I'm in a position to really make a difference,
I will continue to make sure veterans get the services and benefits
they deserve."

- The first woman to serve on the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee;
- Committed to helping Washington State's 700,000 veterans.

- Helped fund and open the Tahoma National Cemetery

- Pressed the VA to improve services
- Fought to recognize America's veterans.
