Senator Murray is widely recognized as a leader on transportation issues in the United States Senate. Senator Murray is the chair of the Senate committee that funds the U.S. Department of Transportation. That means she is responsible for helping decide how and where federal dollars are spent across the nation’s vast transportation network. This includes maintaining the interstate highway system, improving our airports, expanding public transit in urban and rural areas, and investing in research and safety programs.
