Senator Murray and Rep. Larsen joined business leaders, educators and economic development experts to discuss how the current recession is affecting Northwest Washington State. This important discussion comes as Murray, Larsen and other Congressional leaders begin work on an unprecedented economic stimulus package to jumpstart our local, state and national economies. The roundtable discussion included stories and statistics from local employers on dwindling profits and tightening budgets, real estate agents on area home prices, and economic experts on the region’s unique needs. Murray and Larsen discussed the importance of federal investments in infrastructure, helping states and cities continue to fund vital programs, and supporting programs that will strengthen our economy for the future, including education, job training, and green energy.
