Senator Murray Announces Nearly $400 Million for Washington State Military Construction Included in Critical Spending Bill
(Washington, D.C.) - Today, U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA), a member of the Senate Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee, announced $398.8 million for military installations in Washington state. The funding will be used to make improvements to a number of installations that facilitate training and care for service members and their families. The funding is also expected to create family-wage construction jobs in communities throughout the state. The funding was included in the Fiscal Year 2010 Military Construction Appropriations bill.
The bill passed by the Senate today included $398.8 million for investments at Washington state military facilities: Fort Lewis $143.8 million The Military Construction Appropriations Bill passed the Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee, which Senator Murray sits on, yesterday. It is expected to be voted on by the full Appropriations Committee today. It will then be voted on by the full Senate. In her role as a member of the Military Construction Appropriations Committee, Senator Murray personally worked to include two projects that are included in the funding total above.
